Summer Learning Camp is a place where children can spend part of the summer exercising their minds, bodies, making new friends, and having lots of fun.

Learn About Summer Learning and Bridge Camp

The Putnam County School System hosts a four-week Summer Learning Camp for students entering grades 1-5, and Bridge Camp for students entering grades 6-8. The camps will run in the month of June from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at no cost to families. These camps will primarily focus on reading, math, physical activity, STEAM and fun!

Applications are available to pick up at all elementary and middle schools.

Please return the completed form to your child's school. 

If your child(ren) are currently enrolled in LEAPs/21st CCLC, they may participate in before and/or after camp childcare from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide children with an opportunity to develop academically from any learning loss that may have taken place. Our program will encompass an atmosphere of respect, fun, and friendship, so campers can achieve personal satisfaction and growth as students for the upcoming school year.

FAQ

LEAPS For questions about LEAPS/21st CCLC, please contact Brenda Hughett for more information. 

Who are teaching my children? All teachers are certified, and support staff has been background checked. A school nurse will be on-site at each location. The teachers and staff are dedicated, enthusiastic, and able to serve as positive role models for campers. 

Who are the camps operated by? The camps will be operated by the Putnam County School System. We will provide a fun and safe environment for every student as our certified teachers lead students in and out of the classroom. Professional staff, that has been background checked as well, will be serving at the camps. 

Will a nurse be on-site? Nurses will be on-site at each camp location. If your child needs to take medication during the day you will need to bring the medication to the location and sign it in with the nurse.  Prescription medications must be in a pharmacy bottle or packaging with a current label.  Over-the-counter medications must be in the original UNOPENED container. Students may not carry medications.  If you have signed in the medication, you must pick the medication up at the end of the program.  No medication may be kept at any location over the summer.

Is lunch provided? Yes, breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided at no charge.

Is there transportation? Yes, buses will be available to pick students up. Once the application is submitted, if you marked you need transportation, a camp representative will contact you. 

Drop-Off and Pick-Up? Drop-off and pick-up will happen like car line throughout the school year. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the front of the school unless otherwise noted or communicated. 

Is attendance taken? Yes, attendance is taken at the beginning of each day. We understand things are happening. Please call and let us know if your child will not be able to join us for the day. 3rd grade students require 90% attendance. Again, we know things happen, so make-up days for our 3rd graders will be on Fridays. 

Is there before and after school care? If your child(ren) are currently enrolled in LEAPs/21st CCLC, they may participate in before and/or after camp childcare from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

What if I need to pick my child up early, or they need to go home with someone else? This process will work much like school throughout the year. If a child is to be dismissed early or go home with someone other than the designated person(s), parents/guardians must send a note or, in case of an emergency, must call the school the child is attending camp at. 

What to bring?

  • Water bottle
  • backpack for any items they need to bring home.
